Achievements:
Initiated and supports the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program for Bracken, Fleming and Mason counties. The CASA program provides to dependent, neglected and abused children in juvenile court cases a trained adult community volunteer who advocates for the safety, protection and permanency of the child throughout the juvenile court process and thereafter during foster placement or return home.
Active participant in the Juvenile Advisory Group (JAG) in Mason and Bracken counties and its Fleming county counterpart, Professionals Assisting in Student Success (PASS); a collaboration of school administrators, teachers, counselors, youth and family resource center staff, law enforcement, County Attorneys, Commonwealth’s Attorney, Cabinet for Families and Children, Department of Juvenile Justice, Court Designated Worker and mental health counselors and therapists. JAG and PASS work to achieve a better understanding regarding issues of school safety, truancy and other matters of concern pertaining to the local school systems.
